Today you’re going to practice using the verb DECIR in the present tense.

In last week’s lesson we went through the six forms of the irregular verb DECIR in the present tense. Today, I’m going to give you some very useful sentences with those six verb forms.
Learning some simple sentences is the easiest way of mastering the irregular verb forms. In this lesson, we’re going to practice saying six short sentences several times.
By the end of this audio lesson, you’ll be very familiar with the verb DECIR in the present tense.
Before we practice saying the short sentences, let’s review the six forms of the irregular verb DECIR in the present tense. Repeat after me:
digo – I say
dices – you (singular) say
dice – he/she/it says
decimos – we say
decís – you (plural) say
dicen – they say
And here are the six sentences you’re going to master today. Repeat after me:
Te digo que no – I’m telling you no
¿Qué dices? – What are you [singular] saying?
Pedro dice que son las dos y media – Peter says it’s half past two
Decimos lo que pensamos – We say what we think
¿Qué decís de esto? – What do you say about this?
Dicen que no vienen – They say they’re not coming
Let’s say those six sentences again.
Let’s now do a listening drill. Can you tell me what these six sentences mean?
¿Qué decís de esto? – What do you [plural] say about this?
¿Qué dices? – What are you [singular] saying?
Te digo que no – I’m telling you no
Decimos lo que pensamos – We say what we think
Dicen que no vienen – They say they’re not coming
Pedro dice que son las dos y media – Peter says it’s half past two
And now, let’s do a speaking drill. Can you tell me these six sentences in Spanish?
They say they’re not coming – Dicen que no vienen
What are you [singular] saying? – ¿Qué dices?
I’m telling you no – Te digo que no
Peter says it’s half past two – Pedro dice que son las dos y media
What do you [plural] say about this? – ¿Qué decís de esto?
We say what we think – Decimos lo que pensamos
Let’s do another speaking drill. Can you tell me these six sentences in Spanish?
What are you [singular] saying? – ¿Qué dices?
We say what we think – Decimos lo que pensamos
They say they’re not coming – Dicen que no vienen
Peter says it’s half past two – Pedro dice que son las dos y media
What do you [plural] say about this? – ¿Qué decís de esto?
I’m telling you no – Te digo que no
