Today you’re going to master another very common irregular verb.

Today’s question comes from Jeff, one of my newsletter subscribers. I asked my subscribers whether there was anything they needed help with. Jeff wrote to say he’d like to learn and practice the verb DAR.
DAR, to give, is a verb you’ll need even in the most basic conversations. Whenever you’re buying food at the supermarket, ordering drinks at the bar, or getting help from people, you will need to use the verb DAR. Most often in the present tense.
That’s why today we’re going to focus on the six forms of the irregular verb DAR in the present tense. Here are the six forms. Repeat after me:
doy – I give
das – you (singular) give
da – he/she/it gives
damos – we give
dais – you (plural) give
dan – they give
Let’s say them once more. Say them after me.
Now, we’re going to do a listening drill. Can you tell me what these 6 forms mean in English?
da – he/she/it gives
damos – we give
doy – I give
dan – they give
das – you (singular) give
dais – you (plural) give
And now, let’s do a speaking drill. Can you tell me these 6 forms in Spanish?
you (plural) give – dais
we give – damos
they give – dan
he/she/it give – da
I give – doy
you (singular) give – das
