Today’s idea comes from James, one of my Twitter followers. James suggested to me a few days ago that I include a Spanish joke in my podcast.

I have to confess, at first I didn’t think it was a good idea. But then I looked around on the web and found a joke that caught my imagination. So, today we’re going to practice telling that joke in Spanish.

Spanish joke: let’s hear it

The Spanish joke goes like this:

– ¿Qué le dice una pulga a otra pulga? – ¿Vamos a pie o esperamos al perro?

I’ll say it again: ¿Qué le dice una pulga a otra pulga? – ¿Vamos a pie o esperamos al perro?

And in English it’s: What does one flea say to another flea? Are we going on foot or should we wait for the dog?

Spanish joke: word practice

Let’s go through the words in this joke:

qué – what
dice – it says
una pulga – a flea
otra pulga – another flea
vamos – we go, we’re going
a pie – on foot
esperamos – we wait
el perro – the dog

Let’s say those words again.

Spanish joke: line by line

Now let’s say the first line of the joke: ¿Qué le dice una pulga a otra pulga?
Again.

And now, let’s say the second line: ¿Vamos a pie o esperamos al perro?
