To help you learn Spanish fast, today I’m going to give you some very common expressions with the verb ‘estar’. One of the two verbs that mean “to be” in Spanish.
The verb ESTAR (to be) is one of the most common verbs in Spanish. Here we’re going to focus on ten very useful expressions.

Spanish expressions with ESTAR
Let’s go through these expressions:
estar de viaje – to be travelling
estar enfermo – to be ill
estar listo – to be ready
estar en las nubes – to be daydreaming
estar de moda – to be fashionable
estar nublado – to be cloudy
estar de acuerdo – to agree, to be in agreement
estar loco – to be mad
estar seguro – to be certain
estar de pie – to be standing
Let’s go through them once again.
Spanish expressions with ESTAR: Speaking practice
Now we’re going to practice these expressions with ten very useful sentences. Let’s go through the ten sentences:
mis padres están de viaje – my parents are travelling
estoy enferma – I’m ill
¿estáis listos? – are you ready?
Pedro está hoy en las nubes – Peter is daydreaming today
Eso ya no está de moda – that’s not fashionable anymore
Mañana va a estar nublado – tomorrow is going to be cloudy
No estamos de acuerdo – we don’t agree
¿Estás loca? – are you mad?
No están seguros – they’re not certain
Están allí de pie – they’re standing over there
