Today’s question comes from Bill, one of my newsletter subscribers. Bill sent me a message to say: “Now that we’ve learned the days of the week, why don’t you teach us the months? Thanks!”

And why not? I love bringing you words that you’re going to find super useful to communicate in Spanish. And the words for the months, apart from being really handy, are also easy to learn. Because they look so similar in English and Spanish.

The months in Spanish: hear & speak

Let’s say the 12 months of the year, Repeat after me:

enero :: January
febrero :: February
marzo :: March
abril :: April
mayo :: May
junio :: June
julio :: July
agosto :: August
septiembre :: September
octubre :: October
noviembre :: November
diciembre :: December

The months in Spanish: pronunciation tip

These twelve words are easy to remember, but they’re not so easy to say right. We’ve seen in previous lessons that, when words look similar in English and Spanish, it’s very tempting so say them the way you’re used to in English. And that makes Spanish words difficult to understand.

To say the months like a native, remember the pronunciation tips I’ve given you throughout these audio lessons. In particular, watch out for the vowels: a e i o u.
