Sherlock Holmes in Spanish
Parallel Spanish-English text – Translated by Maria Fernandez
Amazon.com review by Melvin L. Musick
Maria Fernandez is a treasure. This book is one of many products she has authored in recent years that I have purchased. Using parallel texts, English on the left page and Spanish on the right page, makes this book a joy to read. The book also includes an English-Spanish glossary with words and expressions found in the story. “A Scandal in Bohemia” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a great read in English. Maria has taken the next step by translating this good story into Spanish. Thank you Maria Fernandez!

This book is actually in 3 sections. The first section (53 pages) is the story with Spanish on one side and English on the other, suitable for a learner at any level. Then the story is presented in Spanish only, followed by the English version–perfect for a more confident reader that still wants to check their comprehension. Then there is a complete glossary in the back.
The book is written in “normal”–i.e. not simplified–Spanish, but gives you the resources to read and understand it. A member of my language group suggests skimming a book first to look for totally unknown words before reading–this book makes that easy by letting you review the glossary before even starting the book.
